I can finally say I DID IT!
Yes, I hiked the Camelback Mountain. All the way to the top!
For those of you who live in Arizona or had ever visited, I’m sure you’ve heard of Camelback. I always wanted to do it, but for some reason something always came up and I didn’t end up doing it.
Finally a couple weeks ago I decided it’s time! So I woke up at 4am, jumped in my car and embarked on a grand adventure!
I did not know what I was getting myself into. I knew it was going to be a tough one, but I didn’t know how extreme it really is.
I had to take multiple breaks on my way up and about two thirds of the way, I felt like my body is giving up on me. I did not think I can take another step. Yes it was that bad. (Keep in mind, I am not a professional hiker)
As another hiker on her way down was passing by, I asked, how much longer do I have to go to get to the top?
She said, “Once you get up this hill, it looks like you’re there, but you’re not, there’s still a good distance to cover after that. But you’re almost there! Keep going!”
My head was saying, “NO!! I can’t do this!”
But my heart was saying, “You cannot give up! You can do this!”
The hiker saw my inner battle and added, “If you’ve made it this far, you can definitely make it all the way to the top! Take a break, rest as much as you need to, but then keep going! You’ve got this!”
I had a paradigm shift. That last part really hit me.
The entire hike (more like rock climbing) reminded me of my entrepreneurial journey, or any entrepreneurial journey for that matter.
It’s an uphill battle, you face obstacles and challenges, some knock you off your feet, but you’ve got to get up and keep on going!
Sometimes you feel like you cannot take another step forward. You’re ready to give up…
But there’s that fire inside of you that doesn’t allow you to quit.
That last sentence that the hiker said was like fuel to my little fire inside of me, all of a sudden I got a second wind and disappearing strength came back to me! I got up, and started climbing with such enthusiasm as if I just started this hike!
I’ve learned a ton of lessons about entrepreneurship and business throughout that hike but the biggest one of them all was, “If you’ve made it this far, you can definitely make it all the way to the top!”
When you feel burned out and you don’t have an ounce of energy left – all you need is a break and then keep on pushing forward!
Don’t give up just because the going gets tough, step aside, rest, allow others who already achieved what you want to achieve to motivate you and keep on going! You can do this!
Strive to be that inspiration and motivation for others who’s on their own journey.
Personally for me, the most satisfying feeling is not when I reach the top, but when I can be inspiration and motivation for others who are still climbing to get to the top.
Just like that hiker was for me. (She probably has no clue how much what she said meant to me)
I thank God for angels like her on my journey, people that inspire me every single day to reach my full potential and make this planet a better place!
Keep on going! You’ve got this!
