Funnels, funnels, funnels. I’m sure you’ve heard hundreds of times how important it is to have a high converting funnel in your business. Although it may seem pretty straight forward, at the same time it’s overwhelming how much information is out there when it comes to building a high converting funnel.
Believe it or not, I’ve been able to generate multiple six figures online WITHOUT having a website! Yup. It’s insane what you can accomplish with a high converting funnel! Now, you might be wondering, what is the difference between a website and a funnel?
A website is what you’re on right now, reading this blog post. I personally look at it as a ‘virtual business card’. It’s a place for your potential customers or clients to get to know you and what you offer. Where you can share value with your visitors, which helps them connect with you, “build a bond” so to speak, like, and trust you.
Now, a funnel, on the other hand, is a series of strategically engineered web pages that have one goal in mind, is to convert a visitor into a customer.
You can display “call(s) to action” on your website, which I describe as “front doors” to your funnel(s). If the visitor chooses to, he/she can enter your funnel and become your customer. That is, at the end of the day, is the goal of your funnel.
You can see a great example of that right here, if you are reading this on a desktop computer or a laptop, take a look at the right sidebar, you’ll find my “call to action” aka “front door” – where I present a Gift for You, which is my ebook. (If you are reading this on mobile, simply scroll down and you’ll find it right below this blog post.) To open that front door, all you have to do is opt-in. And just like that, you’re in my funnel!
Now, there are all kinds of funnels out there, there are ‘free offer’ funnels, which lead with a free offer to then take you on a journey through a series of upsells and downsells, there are ‘paid offer’ funnels, and everything in between. The point of this blog post is not about comparing different types of funnels, and which type is best. No matter what type of funnel you’d like to create, your goal should always be to create a high converting funnel. So, I’m here to reveal to you the characteristics of a High Converting Funnel. Are you ready? Let’s get into it!
There are 3 important elements to a high converting funnel:
#1: Offer
#2: Copy
#3: Design
Your Offer should be irresistible! Keep in mind, you don’t need to please everyone. It only has to be irresistible to your ideal customer. In fact, if you can figure out a way to repel those who are not your ideal customers, all the better! This will not only lower your turn rate but also increase your conversion rate on the upsells within your funnel!
Irresistibility plays a big part in your Copy as well, not just your Offer. When writing sales copy for your offer, make it so irresistible so that your ideal customer simply cannot pass it by, because you’re giving them exactly what they’re looking for!
Copy is also where Positioning comes into play. Positioning helps you establish the image of your brand or product in your ideal customer’s mind. The more detailed your Positioning strategy is, the better it will convert. Here are a few Positioning strategies as an example:
✶ Customer needs: Knowing your target market and how you will fulfill their specific needs.
✶ Product price: Positioning your product competitively priced so that your ideal customer knows they get the best deal.
✶ Competitors: Remember, competition is not always bad, in fact competition proves that the product is in demand! Positioning your product as better than your competitors.
That leads to Design. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, “But, Ella, I’ve seen plenty of ugly funnels that convert.” Yes, I agree, some of them do. But I personally believe, in this day and age, you really need to stand out. Over the past few years, modern, professional looking brands have gained popularity rather than just stand-alone ugly looking products. A great design also creates Trust and Credibility, which loops back to your Offer, and when that loop is sealed, you get a high converting funnel!
